A Space Milestone!

Have you ever wondered how many humans have traveled to the final frontier?  I know that with all of the Shuttle flights, and Soyuz flights to the International Space Station, it might seem like a couple of thousand people have made that trek!  But, that would be wrong!  More?  Less?

When the Shuttle Endeavour blasts off this Wednesday morning, it will be marking two space milestones.  First, it will be carrying seven astronauts to the ISS to join the six that are already there. This will set the record for the most people at one time at the ISS. (Tying the record for the most people in space at one time – thirteen.)

Secondly, this mission will be carrying the 500th human to venture into space since Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space in 1961!  In the almost fifty years men and women have been going to space, only five hundred have ever made that amazing journey!
