This is not the first time that two Space Shuttles have graced the launch pads at KSC, but it is the first time that one Shuttle (Endeavour) has been prepped as a rescue Vehicle for another Shuttle (Atlantis). Atlantis is poised to head for the Hubble Space Telescope on October 10, from Launch Complex 39A, [...]

November 15, 1988 is a date that has been forgotten by many. That is the day that the former Soviet Union launched the Space Shuttle “Buran.” The Soviet Shuttle was, in many ways more superior to the American Shuttle. “Buran” had a better heat shield, it’s engines were able to provide powered flight upon re-entry [...]

In a matter of hours, the Large Hadron Collider will be switched on. Brian Cox does a wonderful job of explaining what it is the LHC is trying to accomplish in this short video:

It seems all of us that were ready to have a “Marsgasm” over the past few days, speculating over what The Phoenix Lander found on Mars were a little premature. Speculation started travelling through the toobs faster than one could say, “Water on Mars”, over a leaked report to “Aviation Weekly” stating that Phoenix had [...]

This is what the astronauts see during a Space Shuttle Launch. This is Space Shuttle Columbia from inside the cockpit on a mission in the 1990’s, before she broke up on re-entry in 2003. I’m amazed at how quiet and professional everyone is during launch.
